Valentina (Black Label)

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico

A good inexpensive general purpose Mexican type sauce.  The 12.5 ounce bottle I bought for 88 cents. The larger bottles are even cheaper per ounce.  It comes in a yellow label variety and the extra hot black label.  The sauce would be a big disappointment to anyone who's main interest is heat, but it is a handy sauce to have around for general seasoning.

Intro

I am not a pepper sauce connoisseur or even a collector.  With the extracts available today I am not interested in heat. A little extract placed into any sauce will give it whatever level of heat you prefer.

"Mexican hot sauce typically focuses more on flavor than on intense heat. Chipotles are a very popular ingredient of Mexican hot sauce and although the sauces are hot, the individual flavors of the peppers are more pronounced. Vinegar is used sparingly or not at all in Mexico but some sauces are high in vinegar content similar to the American Louisiana-style sauces" *

For the longest time I preferred more of a Mexican style sauce but in the last year or so I have had more of a taste for a Louisiana style sauce.
